How do I do fresh nightly build every time ?

Added by T.J. Yang over 3 years ago

I am out of diskspace on the third try of build, usr directory grown to 10Gib !
tjyang@illumos:/code/illumos-gate$ du -ks usr
10148146 usr
tjyang@illumos:/code/illumos-gate$

Is there a nightly switch that I can turn on to have fresh build without accumulating previous builds ?

tjyang@illumos:/code/illumos-gate$ ./nightly --help
Usage: ./nightly [-int] [-S arg] [-V arg]
tjyang@illumos:/code/illumos-gate$

By default the nightly script runs a "clobber" which cleans up...Do you use the -i option for incremental builds anywhere?

I re-run the ./nightly illumos.sh and saw log file was doing a cleanup like following

Clearing /code/illumos-gate/proto/root_i386

And I got 10GiB space back after above command finished.

Thanks for the help, thijs

No Problem! BTW the -i option for the incremental build might help if you're having issues and do not want to start all over...although it is not really recommend - a "full build" is better, but you can use it to eliminate all issue which might show up.

I googled about nightly and found nightly has a man page.
By chance, do you know where is nightly.1 ?
I am getting curious about nightly's full usage possibility.

Usage: ./nightly [-int] [-S arg] [-V arg]
