Bug #1024
closedInstallation failing b/c disk space smaller than RAM
100%
Description
We tried to install oi build 148 x86 Server (both from dvd and usb) and the installation always failed because the swap space that is created during install is too big for the disks we're using.
we have 64gb of RAM and tried to install on a 40GB ssd drive.

Yes, unfortunately the logic is a bit suspect here.
Is this the Live graphical installer, or the text mode installer?

Text mode.
We ended up removing enough ram so the installer would run without errors and then putting it back in.

- Target version set to oi_151
Thanks - we'll target oi_151 for a fix for this, if its possible without delaying the release. Otherwise we'll supply it as an update to 151 after the release and respin the ISOs.

Just got hit by this myself 48GiB RAM onto 37GB boot SSDs.
No work around for me, at the moment as can't remove sticks currently and -B physmem kernel boot option doesn't work (it appears it still reports the total ram, just reduces the free ram).

The gui installer doesn't have this issue, so for oi_151 I'm going to unify the logic between text and gui installer which will fix this bug.
So for a work around for 148 you can install via the gui installer image (though of course getting lots of extras), for 151 this should be fixed.
