Description

I installed both Minimal and Server editions of yesterday's OpenIndiana snapshot from ISO (get one from http://195.201.40.0:8000) to MBR under VirtualBox 6.0.6 running on OpenIndiana and installation fails to boot. Other than picking MBR in disk selection, I kept the defaults.

Minimal installation, once booted from disk, is just a black screen with _ cursor blinking.

Server installation produced BTX halted (screenshot attached).

Boot of system installed via the Graphical installer in the Live medium fails whatever option is taken in the Disk partitioning/selection screen. Boot of system installex via the text installer in "EFI" mode works (MBR does not), though.

This does happen because the installer does not install MBR boot block. fdisk does install /boot/pmbr with default builtin values, the GPT boot program install does enforce PMBR update, but for MBR+VTOC case we need to specify it (I would use bootadm install-bootloader -Mvf to force install with MBR update and with log).
