Description

To make it easier to read ixgbe's eeprom, we should add ufm support to ixgbe. Unfortunately the 82599 EEPROM map and most of the others don't have a notion of a concrete version of their own image, only of that of passed through firmware. For the time being we leave the image version as unknown as it is a bit OEM specific, we instead leave that for the moment as 'unknown', though we can revisit this after we dump a lot more eeproms and get more insight into what would be useful. e.g. if a Dell image version was there that might be useful.

This was tested with help from Patrick Mooney and Ryan Zezeski. I was able to go through and test the ability to read ROMs from the following parts:

  • 82598
  • 82599 (X520)
  • X540

All of the dumped ROMs made sense and had matching data in topo and fwlash -l. I also checked the vpd and mac addresses.
