Description

The FTP program, gFTP does not display the file names on remote servers with oi_151. At first I thought it might be my hosting service, but the same problem occurs with the other bookmarks included with the program. File names are displayed when booted in oi_148.

I can reproduce this on oi_151 with gftp or gftp-text version 2.0.19 by ftping into ftp.freebsd.org. gftp works fine in oi_148. For example:

ftp> dir
Loading directory listing / from server (LC_TIME=en_ZW.UTF-8)
PASV
227 Entering Passive Mode (204,152,184,73,117,132)
LIST -aL
150 Here comes the directory listing.
226 Directory send OK.

Chris/Fred - Can you do a full image update to the dev-il repo and then retest to see if this is fixed for you?

I did a full image update to the dev-il repo and retested, but the problem still happens in gftp.

Some work is going on with the UTF-8 locales (G11n) and we hope to have this resolved by oi_151a release. gFTP will display filenames if the locales are working correctly.

This is resolved during the locale update migration (UTF-8 locales). File further issues under G11n locale group (this is not the gFTP package directly, therefore not JDS). Can review with non UTF-8 locales.

gFTP is still not working properly with oi_151a. The names of directories and most file names are not displayed. It's also not possible to open a directory.

ncftp works and the FireFTP extension for Firefox works good. I've switched to these programs.

Workaround for this:
1. pfexec pkg install network/ftp/ncftp
or FireFTP extension for Firefox (current: FireFTP 2.0.9).
