Hello together,
we have a problem with a system where apparently hardware support is missing.

PowerEdge R650 Server
Intel Xeon Gold 5318Y

What I have tried so far:

- Boot SmartOS Boot + Verbose Mode
- Boot OmniOS Bloody Boot + Verbose Mode

With both systems the system stops at the x86_feature lfence_serializing.
After a while approx. 30 min I get a panic trap Image: smartos_1.png + smartos_2.png

I played around with the kmdb and was able to find a

***ERROR--unknown op code***

in the thread after 2 :c's in the debugger

Any Ideas what this could be or how we can work around this until a fix is available ?

My seriell console is causing some trouble. I'm not able to see anything after the kmdb gets invoked, bios settings looks good.
Therefore I parsed the screenshots attached through OCR but the results are garbage.
Im sorry for only providing screenshots.

This is definitely a bit confusing to me. It seems that 62GB of your memory is in boot reserved pages... which seems off!

By contrast, I've just booted a machine with the debugger and asked it to stop execution at segkmem_kvmm_init() which is in the stack where your machine is stuck. There is, by contrast, mostly memory on the free list:

I think we need to look at some of the memory lists we get from the firmware. What bootloader are you using here -- is it the illumos loader on a disk, or are you use iPXE or something else?

It'd be good to boot with the -B kbm_debug=true,prom_debug=true flags and capture all that output. There may be other information we can get from the loader depending on which one you're using.
