Description

At http://illumos.org/projects/illumos-gate/wiki/How_To_Build_illumos

Old:
bzip2 -dc $DOWNLOAD_LOCATION/sunstudio12-patched-ii-2009Sep-sol-x86.tar.bz2 | pfexec tar xvf -
gzip -dc $DOWNLOAD_LOCATION/sunstudio12u1-patched-ii-2010Feb-sol-x86.tar.gz | pfexec tar xvf -

should have "pfexec" added before bzip2 and gzip lines.

Why would you have that? There is no reason to run bzip2 and gzip with root permissions, unless you have chmod'ed the files to only be readable by root. The tar command has pfexec prepended, since it has to write the files to the directory not owned by the unprivileged user.

shouldn't the sunstudio12u1 files be unpacked in /opt instead of under /opt/SUNWspro?

No, when it's extracted inside /opt/SUNWspro it matched with the default values of paths for ie. lint, so we don't have to overrule that in illumos.sh.

I'm closing this bug, since there isn't really any sign of problems with the guide.

Then could you have mini-cbe-install fixed?
  1. look for compilers in known locations
    find_compilers () {
    compiler_found=no # FIXME: if CC = gcc, set CFLAGS to -std=c99
    msg "Locating compilers..."
    arch=$(uname -p)
    known_compilers="/sgnome/onnv-tools/$arch/SS12/bin/cc /sgnome/onnv-tools/$arch/SS11/bin/cc /ws/onnv-tools/SUNWspro/SS12/bin/cc /ws/onnv-tools/SUNWspro/SS11/bin/cc /opt/SUNWspro/bin/cc /opt/SS12/SUNWspro/bin/cc /opt/Studio12/bin/cc /opt/SSX0903/bin/cc /opt/sunstudio12.1/bin/cc /usr/bin/cc /opt/SunStudioExpress/bin/cc /usr/bin/gcc /usr/sfw/bin/gcc /usr/gnu/bin/gcc"

Feel free to submit a bug (maybe with patch?) if you believe something should be changed in the code. I have had no problems with following the guide to get illumos build.
