Description

Hello,

Running cifs server in workgroup mode...

I guess I need some help trying to figure out why I get so many of the following messages :

Oct 11 10:54:40 smicro smbsrv: [ID 138215 kern.notice] NOTICE: smbd[SMICRO\guest]: admin$ share not found
Oct 11 10:56:18 smicro smbsrv: [ID 138215 kern.notice] NOTICE: smbd[SMICRO\guest]: dossier share not found
Oct 11 10:57:21 smicro last message repeated 1 time
Oct 11 11:05:13 smicro smbsrv: [ID 138215 kern.notice] NOTICE: smbd[SMICRO\guest]: dossier share not found
Oct 11 11:11:32 smicro last message repeated 6 times

my share name is Dossiers (not dossier), and it seems that only certain clients exhibit problems... namely windows 7
windows xp clients seem okay.

$ sharemgr show -vp
default nfs=()
smb smb=()
zfs
zfs/rpool/export/dossiers nfs=() smb=()
/export/dossiers
Dossiers=/export/dossiers smb=(guestok="true")

$ zfs get all rpool/export/dossiers

Is M$ windows making life difficult again, and how to calm it down?

Thanks in advance,

This is a Windows bug. The message is harmless.

We could entertain an issue to quiet that message.

Is there any public info, documentation about this bug? Or a workaround?

Someone should submit a change to make that cmn_err call at level DEBUG instead.
That way, one would only see these if they turned on level debug in syslog.conf
