Description

We don't ever use Sun as on amd64, but we have code to support it specifically some of which is screwy, and which unless you're fully aware of our set of assembler choices can cause you a lot of heartache.

For the record we use these assemblers:

32bit x86: Sun as if using Studio, gas via aw if using GCC
64bit x86: Always gas via aw
32bit sparc: Always Sun as
64bit sparc: Always Sun as

A separate project, later, is going to try to change this all to at least "optionally GNU as", but in the case of 64bit x86, where we have never used Sun as, and it has bugs which complicate it, we should remove the dead code to make things considerably more readable.
