Description

on_b134 power.conf has settings
autopm default
cpupm enable poll-mode
cpu-threshold 10s

And with this setting AMD X2 processor frequency scaling works.

But when boot to oi_b147 frequency scaling stop working.

With the default event-driven governor with cpupm enable, kstat cpu_info and PowerTOP show frequency transitions on an Atom N270.

Does event mode work for you?

uname -v
oi_147
kstat -m cpu_info -i 0 -s implementation
module: cpu_info instance: 0
name: cpu_info0 class: misc
implementation x86 (chipid 0x0 AuthenticAMD 60FB2 family 15 model 107 step 2 clock 2700 MHz)
kstat -m cpu_info -i 0 -s supported_frequencies_Hz
module: cpu_info instance: 0
name: cpu_info0 class: misc
supported_frequencies_Hz 2699883634

No matter what setting put to conf file.
running pmconfig and or reboot / cold reboot / reboot with reconfigure.

Yeah, the system thinks your CPU only has one frequency state. Did you previously have the "powernow" driver installed from frkit? Some of the older AMD CPUs need that ( http://hub.opensolaris.org/bin/view/Community+Group+laptop/frkit ).

This is puzzling, can you provide the kstat -m cpu_info from b134 for comparism?

Hi

Installed b134 again ... to usb stick
but did not get this to work.
Then tryed also to roll back bios update id did .. but mb bios setup denied to do that.
So cannot anymore provide facts...

It used to work but now also rise question can this be a bios issue as well.
In bios setting Cool&Quiet setup changed from enable/disable to auto/disable.
and help says this enable P state power saving features.

Also installed ubuntu 10.10 linux and powertop show that there is 3 frequencies supported.
So this indicate that feature exists and is functional.
Thanks
