Description

Sony VGN-S3XP Laptop with GeForce Go 6200 using Nvidia drivers shipped with oi_148 (256.44).

Using the default grub entries I get the nice grub bootsplash along with the throbber, and the system boot normally and presents me with GDM. I can login and work normally in an X/Gnome environment. However, if I reboot the graphics become totally corrupted and pixelated. It looks like the display has gone faulty.

If I edit grub and remove the splashimage, foreground, background and console=graphics lines at boot the system behaves the same.

System was previously running Linux without issue.

Have not tested with oi_147.

Not a show stopper, but just looks horrible.

I have also enabled virtual terminals, switching to any of the virtual terminals also results in the same issue. At this point I'm unable to switch back to X (Alt + Ctrl + F7) as it does nothing, so all I can do is reboot.....

I suspect this is something do do with the age of my laptop, and technically the nvidia drivers shipped with OI don't support Geforce 6200 Go cards, according to Nvidia.
