Bug #595
first panic crash with openindiana b148
0%
Description
the only remarkable action was mounting with smbfs a shared dvd drive from a windows xp laptop
with # mount -F smbfs "user:pass@192.168.0.10/DVD" /mnt
then subsequently unmounting it... a few moments later .. POOF
the following are some details.. (dump file available upon request)
(BTW, after the reboot I tried to repeat the process to see if the crash was repeatable.
no, not yet anyway.)

Jan 1 11:02:24 shuttleX DESC: The system has rebooted after a kernel panic. Refer to http://sun.com/msg/SUNOS-8000-KL for more information.
Jan 1 11:02:24 shuttleX AUTO-RESPONSE: The failed system image was dumped to the dump device. If savecore is enabled (see dumpadm(1M)) a copy of the dump will be written to the savecore directory /var/crash/shuttleX.
Jan 1 11:02:24 shuttleX IMPACT: There may be some performance impact while the panic is copied to the savecore directory. Disk space usage by panics can be substantial.
Jan 1 11:02:24 shuttleX REC-ACTION: If savecore is not enabled then please take steps to preserve the crash image.
Jan 1 11:02:24 shuttleX Use 'fmdump -Vp -u 9714b5f7-3ef9-e243-8b45-f9e5f0333752' to view more panic detail. Please refer to the knowledge article for additional information.

dumping to /dev/zvol/dsk/rpool/dump, offset 65536, content: kernel + curproc
Updated by Gordon Ross about 10 years ago
Interesting. You might learn more if you can reproduce this (a) with a debug build of illumos, and (b) with kmem_flags=0xf set very early, i.e edit the grub entry, boot -k ...
Updated by Richard PALO about 10 years ago
Another crash, this time in Xorg... Unfortunately I changed kmem_flags afterwards...
Dump is available, but here is some data:

Another panic, this time in zfs...
Perhaps interesting in that I was tele-working on a OOO Calc file open via Nautilus on a SSH opened file system (also oi_148) over the internet.

Hi Richard,
i'll close the Bug for know, since we and you can't reproduce it. Some random panics may caused by hardware errors, you may consider a RAM check. If the panics are caused by bugs in the kernel we still need a way to reproduce it.
