Bug #663
closedno display during installation
0%
Description
Hi,
I wanted to install OpenIndiana Built 148 on the system based on ZOTAC H55-ITX WiFi board.
In order to do so first I had to disable the legacy usb support in the bios, otherwise the whole installation would just hang before even starting.
But then I could only go as far as typing the text session's username & password.
After that there was no display at all on my monitor.
I wonder if this has got something to do with the board I'm using.
Any help will be appreciated. If you need more info just drop me a mail.
cheers

I'm encountering this same issue. Although, I'm using a Zotac ION-G-E. It's the craziest thing. I found that I can take an HDD out of a known good install and put it in this box and it will boot, no problem. It's just that the display stops at the oi_148 Oracle 1983-2010 banner. I thought maybe it switched to the HDMI out, so I tried that and same problem. If I boot with -v, the display stops after it initializes the keyboard (PS2) or ohci (USB Keyboard):
Jan 25 03:55:23 openindiana-stor npe: [ID 236367 kern.notice] PCI Express-device: pci19da,a119@6, ohci1
Jan 25 03:55:23 openindiana-stor genunix: [ID 936769 kern.notice] ohci1 is /pci@0,0/pci19da,a119@6
Jan 25 03:55:23 openindiana-stor i8042: [ID 526150 kern.notice] 8042 device: keyboard@0, kb8042 # 1
Jan 25 03:55:23 openindiana-stor genunix: [ID 936769 kern.notice] kb80421 is /pci@0,0/isa@3/i8042@1,60/keyboard@0
I miss everything from this point on:
Jan 25 03:55:23 openindiana-stor unix: [ID 950921 kern.notice] cpu0: x86 (chipid 0x0 GenuineIntel 106C2 family 6 model 28 step 2 clock 1600 MHz)
...
I tried unplugging the keyboard, same issue.
I'm thinking of re-enabling nwam on the known good install and booting it in the Zotac box so I can further troubleshoot. Let me know if I can assist in any way.
Thanks,
Joe

Attached is /var/adm/messages for a known good oi_148 install booting on the Zotac board. network:physical didn't like not having the right interfaces.
Thanks,
Joe
