mercurial based tools could be faster
In late 2008 people complained about the performance of the mercurial-based onnv tools, and I made fixes.
Problems synchronizing with various internal Sun needs (and lack of time on the part of the onnv gks) meant these fixes never integrated.
I'd like to integrate them now, regardless of the people who directly cared now being git users.
This would be the fixes for Sun CRs:
6749991 hg backup should provide human readable diffs and/or full "clear" files
6854677 hg backup should avoid creating empty tarballs
6880140 cadmium active list build could do less work
6880146 cadmium should accept hints as to which files are changed
(the backup changes are unfortunately intertwined).
They have been reviewed, tested (over years, now!), and had everything done other than some testing on the gate side that we don't care about (the thing which prevented them ever integrating), and an RTI being filed.
