Description

I did a brief survey of popular terminal emulators and the behaviour they exhibit when displaying white text on a white background, without the "bold" attribute enabled. In at least xterm, Terminal.app, and iTerm2, it appears that the unbolded (i.e. not "bright") foreground white is the same shade as the background white. On the VGA text console, the opposite is true: we map the background white to the same colour as the bright foreground white.
