Description

I installed OI hipster 16.04 on a hardware box with Realtek PCIe controller (full manifest in attached file).
The rge driver recognized the NIC and gets the address from DHCP, but after any serious network activity the NIC stops receiving (and probably stops sending) packets. After several seconds it starts working again, and then fails again, etc. The system is unusable.
I see no relevant messages in /var/adm/messages.

We once managed to fix the issue by resetting motherboard BIOS settings, but after I powered the box down and turned it back again, the problem returned. May be it is some kind of ACPI/power management issue?

Linux forums mention similar issue (http://unix.stackexchange.com/questions/108952/realtek-r8169-not-working-in-centos-6-5 and others) and recommend to replace a NIC driver.
Under Windows 7, the NIC seems to work fine.
