Bug #8613
Atril PDF Viewer unable to print as printer selection not available
0%
Description
I am running an up to date version of OpenIndiana Hipster ( OpenIndiana Hipster 2017.04 (powered by illumos) Assembled 01 May 2017 ) and instance SunOS tesla 5.11 illumos-4b529e40b9 i86pc i386 i86pc.
When I tried to print a pdf document today with Atril there was no printer to choose. I did print the PDF document using GIMP which did the printer.

Is library/desktop/gtk3/gtk-backend-cups installed? Is printer configured in CUPS?
Updated by Ben Franck over 3 years ago
I can replicate the issue.
Hipster update from 17/10/2017.
Printers configured in Print Manager tool and in CUPS web interface, printing from firefox works fine.
$ pkg list gtk-backend-cups
NAME (PUBLISHER) VERSION IFO
library/desktop/gtk2/gtk-backend-cups 2.24.31-2017.0.0.0 i--
but atril printer selection dialogue is empty, same with pluma.

A recent update added library/desktop/gtk3/gtk-backend-cups and I just noticed the gtk2 vs gtk3 difference....
Can print now.
Solved from my point of view.

The package pkg:/library/desktop/gtk3/gtk-backend-cups needs to installed to fix this problem. Should this be installed by default?

I had to install the pkg:/library/desktop/gtk3/gtk-backend-cups in order to get printing working in Atril, so yes it should be installed by default until the Atril no longer depends on it.
