Description

I recently bought a Librem 15 from Purism It has an Atheros 9400 WiFi adapter. Sadly that Card has no support in Illumos.

The Laptop itself is advertised as free software based without binary blobs. Linux has support for this device via the ath9k driver. Freenic drivers has only support up to the 8500 series.

I do not know how much effort it is to write a driver but I am putting this in and volunteer myself as tester in the hope that somebody with the talent might take it up.

The driver in the linux tree is:

Who would be interested to mentor this or to do the port of ath to illumos? It would give us support for a lot of Atheros cards and make Illumos at least somewhat viable on laptops
