PKG (Image Packaging System)
Description
Hello, I installed OpenIndiana-148-dev on my laptop nearly half a month ago.
When I checked for package updates with Update Manager today, I got the following error "This is an Live Image. The install operation can't be performed".
I need your help for this even though I know there may be no updates at all.
I love this distribution, and it runs faster on my laptop than Solaris and OpenSolaris.
Thank you for your attention and best regards!

Another user has reported this happens after refreshing catalogs.

For people reading this, the workaround is to use pkg image-update
. The bug only affects the packagemanager GUI.
- Target version changed from oi_151 to oi_151_stable
- Assignee changed from OI JDS to OI PKG
This bug is still present in beta 151 of /dev-il that I am running.
After failed update failure due to another bug
(at server-side pkg disabling download below certain update speed..),
GUI Package manager and webinstall refuses to install any package anymore, saying it is an live image.
- Due date set to 2013-12-15
- Status changed from Feedback to Closed
- Tags changed from needs-triage to pkg
packagemanager is now a decommissioned feature. The new pkg release n /hipster fixed this issue.
